The energy was high and the endorphins were definitely flowing.

I absolutely loved seeing everyone challenge themselves, step outside their comfort zone and discover just how powerful they are.

One of my favourite things about the Jumpboard is that it delivers all the heart-pumping, fitness-building benefits of HIIT training while remaining low impact and kind to your joints. Safe to say the secret assassin understood the assignment this morning. 🔥

To everyone who joined us today, thank you for bringing such incredible energy to the room.

As our reformer program continues to grow, I’m so excited to share that Katie will now be teaching our Level 1 Reformer Pilates classes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings 🫶

Most of you have already had the pleasure of meeting Katie through our Foundations Programs, and I know you’ll agree that we are incredibly lucky to have her as part of our team!

Katie brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion for movement, along with a fun, supportive teaching style that aligns beautifully with everything we stand for at Simple Living Collective. One of the things that is most important to me as the studio grows is ensuring that every class continues to deliver the same high standard of coaching, attention to detail and supportive environment that you’ve come to know and love - so trust me when I say I am leaving you in VERY good hands. I have complete confidence that you’re going love learning from Katie as much as I do.

We are so excited for this next chapter and grateful to have such an incredible teacher sharing her knowledge with our community.

My legs were shaking so much today!!!!

If you’ve ever said this after a Pilates class, you’re definitely not alone.

It’s one of the most common things I hear in the studio. And while those shakes can be surprising (and sometimes a little humbling!), they’re completely normal.

When a muscle is challenged for an extended period of time, particularly during slow, controlled movements or longer holds, your nervous system has to work harder to recruit and coordinate muscle fibres to maintain the position.

As fatigue begins to set in, that communication between your brain and muscles becomes increasingly demanding. The result?

Those little shakes and tremors.

In Pilates, this often happens because we’re:
✔️ working one side of the body at a time
✔️holding muscles under tension for longer periods
✔️challenging balance and stability
✔️recruiting smaller stabilising muscles
✔️asking the body to maintain alignment, control and precision throughout the movement

In many cases, the shakes are simply a sign that your body is working hard, learning something new or operating near its current capacity.
They’re feedback.

But here’s where I want to bust a myth...
Just because you’re shaking doesn’t automatically mean you’ve had a better workout.

One of the biggest misconceptions in the fitness industry is that the more it burns, the more it hurts or the more you shake, the more effective the workout must be.

But that’s not necessarily true.

The goal of Pilates isn’t to chase the burn.
It isn’t to chase exhaustion.
And it certainly isn’t to chase the shakes.

Some of the most effective exercises you’ll ever do won’t leave your legs trembling or sore for days.

Instead, they’ll teach your body how to move better. And that’s where the real magic happens.

Remember in our classes we’re not measuring success by how much it burns. We’re measuring success through strength, control, connection, breath and quality movement.

Over the past month of Level 1 classes , I’ve been intentionally a little more lenient as everyone settles into a new routine…

But with a number of last-minute re-scheduling & cancellations it’s become really important that I now enforce our cancellation policy so that classes can run smoothly for everyone.

A gentle reminder that 12 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule your class.
Late reschedules, cancellations or no-shows will result in the session being forfeited.

I completely understand that life happens - it always will.
But to be fair to other clients who may be on the waitlist, and to respect the time and energy that goes into running each class, this boundary is necessary.

If you’re unsure whether you can make a class, a good option is to wait until the day of booking, once you know you can definitely attend - this helps you avoid losing a session from your pass.

And if that surprises you… you’re not alone.

Because what looks like “leg work” is actually a test of something much deeper.
Before your legs even move, your body is asking:
👉 Can you stabilise your pelvis?
👉 Can you organise your spine?
👉 Can you control your breath?

If the answer is no… your legs will still move.
But you’ll be moving from compensation, not control. This is why you might feel it in your hip flexors, maybe in your lower back.
And why it can feel “easy”… until it suddenly isn’t.

Good Pilates isn’t about chasing the burn or smashing your legs. It’s about building deep connection, strength and control from the inside out. So when it feels harder than it looks?
That’s not a bad thing - that’s your body finally doing the work it’s been missing.

And that’s where the magic is.
Because this is the kind of strength that:
• supports your spine
• improves the way you move
• and carries into everything you do

Smart Pilates always looks simple.
But when it’s done well… it changes everything 🫶
